Children's Beginning Oil Painting and Charcoal Drawing

Saturday's 9 a.m. - Noon April 10 - 24; May 8 - 22

Ages: 8 - 12

Start from the very beginning in this fun and informative class. Mike Prather will discuss the art of getting started and set-up some simple still-life to begin with. You will learn to sketch out your ideas in charcoal, transfer them to canvas and bring them to life with paint. Even if you have painted before, this class is for you.

Cost is $120 or $20 per session (Scholarships available)

“White on Whiteand Monotype Paintings"

May 13, 14 and 15 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Learn to use the energy and sparkle of the white of your watercolor paper to achieve more glowing paintings”. “Monotype Paintings”: Fun and quick “Multiple hand transfers of watercolors are applied to paper” and topped off with W/C pens or pencils. For members of Arts Association of Oldham County,  the cost of this Workshop is $165. For non-members the cost is $185. One-half payment is due at time of registration and final payment is due by April 1, 2010.www

Oil Painting and Charcoal Drawing with Mike Prather

Ability: Beginner to Advanced

Plan to complete 3 paintings in each 6 week period.  Each artist will spend the first 30 to 40 minutes with a charcoal stick, then paint.  No experience is necessary, all you need is a desire to grow as a painter and to have a great time!

Cost is $120 for Arts Association of Oldham County members, $135 for non-members.
